Making the We Were Here Tomorrow trailers for Total Mayhem Games

We Were Here Tomorrow is out now on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and we made its launch and explanatory trailers.

We love working on games. The teams behind them are some of the most committed and talented people we get to collaborate with, and they care about every corner of the worlds they build. At the end of the day it's all about fun, and helping get players excited to dive in is a very good job to have.

We Were Here Tomorrow, the latest game in Total Mayhem Games' much-loved co-op puzzle series, was a perfect example. It sends two Explorers into the Norček facility, a retro-futuristic complex where the only way out is to talk each other through puzzles that bend time, gravity and space.

The launch trailer opens with a spoof employee induction, with the facility's Director putting on a welcome that's a little too warm to be trusted, before moving into gameplay that shows two players working together, each holding only half of the puzzle. All of it sits in the game's 80s vision of the future: chunky lettering, neon grids, heavy CRT consoles and a synthwave score.

The explanatory trailer went out with the release date announcement, with Creative Director Martin Mittner introducing the world and what's changed for the series. It ran across the PlayStation and Xbox channels.

Everything was animated in engine. We worked directly inside Total Mayhem's Unity project, building our own assets and rigs where the shots needed them, so what players see in the trailers is the game itself. The project ran from June to September, with our team working remotely alongside Total Mayhem in Rotterdam, and grew to two 60-second films and nearly 50 playouts.
