Princess Yachts – R Evolution
A manga-inspired launch film for the Princess Yachts R Class performance yacht, mixing 2D and 3D animation to reflect a brand built on handcrafting and attention to detail.
Princess Yachts are a brand defined by craft. Every R Class is built by hand, with the kind of attention to detail that takes years to develop. The launch film needed to reflect that, so we looked for a visual language with its own sense of precision and artistry.
The manga influence gave us exactly that. It's a style rooted in draughtsmanship, with strong linework and a graphic confidence that suited the subject well. Mixing it with 3D animation let us move between the illustrative and the physical -- the hand-drawn world of the maker and the sleek reality of the finished yacht.
The result is colourful and fun, and sits in a very different place from the typical luxury product film. Which was entirely the point!
