Training Video Production
Introduction
Hocus Pocus Studio is a BAFTA-nominated London animation studio with over a decade of experience producing training videos for organisations of all sizes. Training videos help teams learn faster and retain knowledge — whether it’s onboarding new employees, sharing compliance processes, or rolling out health & safety policies.
Because many projects involve sensitive or internal content, we don’t publish full examples on our site, but we can share work privately on request. Our showreel below gives a flavour of our style and quality.

What is Training Video Production?
Training videos are designed to deliver clear, consistent knowledge across an organisation. They work particularly well for:
- Onboarding and induction
- Health & safety and compliance training
- Product or service rollouts
- Internal comms and culture building
- Recruitment assessments such as situational judgement testing films
At Hocus Pocus Studio, we use animation, live action, and sometimes VR to create training videos that are engaging, effective, and suited to your audience.
Case Study: EiSMART Training Films
Some projects are very close to our hearts — and this couldn’t be more the case than with this series of films for EiSMART, supporting parents of preterm / NICU babies. The films cover moving and carrying, nappy changing, and play, all with particular emphasis on preterm babies.
Wonderfully shot by Charley Scott and presented by Dr Betty Hutchon, with illustrations and animations by our own Sze Hang Lo, the series combines warmth, clarity, and medical expertise.
Healthcare education film for EiSMART, combining live action and animation to teach safe handling for preterm babies.

How Much Does a Training Video Cost?
Costs vary depending on scope, style, and delivery needs. Factors include:
- Script development and content scope
- Animation vs live action
- Voiceover and on-screen talent
- Music and sound design
- Locations and filming days
- Number of videos required
- Rights and usage
As a guide, animated training videos often range from £8,000–£20,000, while more complex live action or VR projects can require higher budgets.
How Long Does It Take to Make a Training Video?
Most training videos take 4–6 weeks once scripts are signed off. Multiple videos can be produced in parallel if needed. Projects involving live action shoots or heavy CGI may take longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of training videos are most effective?
Onboarding, compliance, health & safety, product training, and situational judgement testing films all benefit from clear, engaging video formats.

How much should I budget for a training video?
Budgets typically start from £8,000–£20,000 for a professionally produced training video. Costs increase with live action filming, multiple versions, or premium music/talent.
Do you manage the process end-to-end?
Yes. We handle scriptwriting, storyboarding, animation or live action filming, voiceover, and final delivery in the formats you need.
Why use animation for training videos?
Animation is ideal for explaining abstract or sensitive topics. It ensures consistency, simplifies complex processes, and works across multiple markets and languages.
